The Reading Corner

Kindergarten are off to a flying start!

Kindergarten students have been successfully learning how to use the predicting strategy to enhance their reading comprehension. Mrs Benotic and Miss Bartlett have been explicitly modelling to the students how to think about the characters and events in a story to make accurate guesses about what might come next. Making predictions while reading a text assists students to monitor their understanding and use what they already know to make sense of the story. Students have been making and checking their own predictions as they listen to stories read by the teacher.
